Customer: The Danish Film Institute
Product: 800 sqm outdoor exhibition
Purpose: Information about Danish film og it’s development
The Danish Film Institute has opened a roof terrace, where the audience can not only visit an open-air cinema and café – but also experience a sensuous film exhibition about Danish cinema. From the start in 2020, No Parking was given the task as an advisor on the exhibition task, and was then engaged in the exhibition design and as a supplier of the digital and interactive experiences.
The project, which has been in the works for several years, opened in the summer of 2024, and from the start is very popular with both Copenhageners and tourists. The exhibition gives an insight into the development of Danish film from the early initiatives and the great days of the silent film, up through thematic successes such as folk comedies, dogma films and documentaries. Everywhere you can explore examples of films and actors of the time, and in several places fun and insightful interactive installations have been created.
For example, you can spin a zoetrope and experience the principle of the film. Elsewhere, you can put your own sound on a silent film. Or try to select or deselect the various rules on the dogma films, via tactile barkelite buttons. In the exhibition’s children’s area, you can explore the development of children’s films via turntables, or test your knowledge of the film’s structure in a quiz with colorful selection buttons.
